COMPETITIVE EDGE
Contributions from environmental and social value, in addition to traditional economic value, are the new metrics for forward-looking, global corporations who want to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. With HRT’s risk-based management approaches, companies improve their triple bottom line by effectively managing the values, issues, and processes necessary to maintain the health and safety of employees, customers and neighbors, preserve the integrity of the environment and create economic, social and environmental value.
VALUE CREATION
As an additional step to assure that HSE Management Systems not only make sense for the client’s operation, HRT develops HSE systems in a value-based management (VBM) format. VBM measures three components of the HSE system: value of the system, discretion to discontinue the system, and resource levels of the system. Using VBM, HRT recommends:
-
discontinuing systems where value is low and discretion is high,
-
minimizing resources, such as outsourcing, where both value and discretion are low, and
-
investing additional resources where value is high.
CRISIS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Sudden, catestrophic incidents account for only about 30% of corporate crises. The remaining 70% are "creeping" incidents that result from management decisions. HRT establishes a “user friendly” Crisis Management Plan including External Affairs for a wide variety of incidents. We establish an Emergency Management Plan, and its relevant subsections by iIdentifying any interface problems among component Emergency Plans and producing an emergency update/interface system to allow the Crisis Management Teams and relevant Emergency Management Teams to remain in touch.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Human performance is a critical trait for any sucessful venture. Humans need to understand task requirements associated with their job duties. HRT offers a wide variety of services to develop training matrices and competency assessment tools. We enable companies to successfully manage personnel and organizational (P&O) change. As co-author of one of the industry standards for P&O change management, we are uniquely qualified to design a successful system. In addition, HRT has a wide variety of HSE training programs, ready made for your use or that can be modified to meet your unique requirements.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT
The key to management of the triple bottom line is effective comparison in common, comparable terms. HRT uses methods to evaluate “Society” and “Environment” in terms of economic risk. Some methods, such as evaluating the economic impact of public perception, are unique to HRT. Using economic risk and other performance measurement tools, companies can manage the balance among Society, Worker Safety, Environment, and Economy of corporate profits.
