PROJECTS
Below is a partial list of the work performed by our personnel. This work represents decades of dedication to helping clients achieve HSE excellence.
In an multi-year project, our personnel developed an entire process safety management (PSM) program for one of the world’s largest refineries. The PSM program covered all elements of the US OSHA PSM standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and was strengthened to reflect refinery management's desire to exceed the standard in many areas. The program was also integrated into an existing ISO 9000 system.
Our personnel facilitated an HF alkylation unit HAZOP. Its focus was on safety, operability, and maintenance. It included normal operation, startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures. The HAZOP team recommended 110 design, operational, and procedural improvements to help prevent equipment and human failure and to handle the effects of any accidents should they occur.
As part of a regulatory-required safety case, our personnel developed a quantified risk analysis to determine potential accident scenarios that present high risk to personnel aboard the jack-up drilling unit. The team performed a detailed assessment of the expected frequencies and consequences of events that cause fires, explosions, and other accidents that pose a threat to life.
To determine ways to improve the availability and productivity of a hydrocracker unit, our personnel used economic risk analysis to determine high risk scenarios. The study displayed results in a risk histogram, the risk importance of basic failures, and the economic benefit associated with recommendations for decreasing hydrocracker risk.
HRT personnel performed an HSE audit to determine compliance with regulatory and corporate programs and policies at a major refinery. The audit examined the content of management systems and how systems were implemented in the field. The audit found that the refinery had most of the safety programs in place and generally in compliance with federal regulations. The audit report listed specific areas of concern and pointed to the few violations of federal regulation noted.
